Born on Sunvalley road St James Jamaica, Omar fell in love with food from a young age. He enjoyed the delicious meals his Grandma Miri would cook and always enjoyed hosting visitors to his house. He was always interested in cooking and spent hours watching Grandma Miri cooking up a storm in the kitchen on Sunvalley road. When he met his wife Michelle, they quickly connected over a pot in a friend’s kitchen in Kingston as Michelle too loved cooking and took inspiration from her Grandma and Mother who operated a restaurant.

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and that saying was proven when Omar flew many miles to London to be with Michelle. The two spent many nights together in a kitchen in Brixton where they created some very special recipes and shared food memories of their childhood cooking experience, from Mr. Welly on Sunvalley road with his jerk pan to the whole jerk pig on the spit roasting in St Thomas, the stories are endless. The pair soon became known as the catering crew at every family event and after every event, they were always told that they needed their own Caribbean Restaurant and that is where the idea behind Sunvalley Jerk was created.
